We will be travelling to Malawi in August to build houses for those currently living in extreme poverty.

In Malawi, which is one of the least developed countries in the world, HfH focusses its efforts on improving the lives of orphans and vulnerable people. The number of orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi increased from 937,000 in 2001 to 1,400,000 in 2010, representing a 66% increase in less than a decade. Malawi also has a high rural to urban migration which is led to an increased demand for housing in urban areas. As a result many people live in slums in houses that are often made of mud bricks with a dirt floor and thatched roof. These type of houses require constant repairs which most families cannot afford given that half the population live on less than $1 a day.

HfH provides new homes in Malawi that are fully subsidised for orphans and other vulnerable groups of children. HfH works with social workers in the area to establish who is in the greatest need for help. Once a family has been identified HfH will work closely with other partners agencies who focus on disease/education etc.
